There are a total of 18 ranks in CS:GO, and as with most games, your rank determines the level of your opponents that you will be matched against in competitive games. How do I rank up?
I’m not going to sugar coat it, in order to rank up in CS:GO, you are going to need to be patient and practice quite a bit. After you have played a few games, you will start meeting people. I highly suggest adding a few of the better players in your games and pairing up with them to play another one together. Playing with people you somewhat know or get to know over time, is a lot better than playing on your own
The only way to increase your rank is by playing and winning or getting a draw in competitive games. In order to win, your team will have to be the first to get 16 points or draw 15-15. However, unlike pro games, regular competitive matchmaking does not have overtime.
Before warned, the higher your rank, the tougher your opponents will be.

What happens to my rank when I lose a competitive match?
Let’s face it, you’re not going to win every match you play. Even if you top frag and get all the kills, you still need to help your team out. However, if you lose several games in a row, you have a pretty good chance of deranking.
So let’s say your current rank is Silver 2, if you derank you will go down to Silver 1.
What should I work on to increase my skills and have a better chance of winning and ranking up?
When you first start out and are ranked in any of the first several ranks, Silver and Gold Novas, there are a few key things that you are going to want to focus on to improve your rank.
First and foremost, you should focus on improving your general aim and hand-eye coordination. A good way to do this is by playing Deathmatch a lot. It’s important to remember that at this stage, your armour is more important than you gun.
When you graduate to the Master Guardians ranks, learning the maps will be crucial to your success. Now that your aim has improved, get to know the maps and learn their flow, layout, and timings. Playing one map can be fun once you get used to it, but in order for you to get the most out of the game, you’ll need to play every map on a regular basis.
Pay close attention and study strategies for Terrorist play. It’s often the weaker side for many, and where you have to play offensive. When you have reached the DMG rank, Distinguished Master Guardian, it’s important to get your positioning right. Get to know and learn all the angles and most importantly get that positioning spot on.
Once you reach any of the Eagles rank, you’ll need to have confidence in your teammates. You’ve got to trust your teammates, otherwise your gameplay level will be inconsistent. Sometimes you’ll find that you can play like a king, while other times you’ll play like a newbie.
Tips for improving teamplay
In all honestly, once you reached DMG rank and above, teamplay becomes an important factor in winning and ultimately ranking up. If your teamplay isn’t up to snuff, you’ll start to feel as if you are stuck in this rank and can’t get anywhere.
So, now that we know how important teamplay is in terms of your success and ranking up, let’s take a look how you can improve it. The best thing you can do overall teamplay is to encourage and promote good behaviour with your teammates.
Communication in CS:GO is key. Especially at higher ranks, being able to call-out and give information to your team can make or break your game. Remember, everyone fails sometimes. Papas cheeseria apk download for android. So, if your teammates fail, tell them nice try.
On the other hand, if they succeed, let them know they did a good job. Genuinely complimenting your teammates will go a long way in building team morale and getting the win. Conversely, you must at all costs avoid arguing with your teammates, don’t feed trolls and certainly don’t be one.
If a teammate starts to get emotional or angry, try to calm them down. If you are unsuccessful in calming them down, just ignore and mute them. Finally, don’t fall for taunts by the opposing team. It won’t get you anywhere and in most instances distract you from your game.

Here is some essential tips that you will learn a LOT from (unless you are an experienced players already, but then you might learn something new anyway). Some of them are common newbie mistakes, others are just useful in general. We are not saying that these will make you pro right away, but it’s stuff that beginners should think about – and experienced players might learn from.
Also some of this is general advice, use your own common sense, some of the tips might not be useful in special situations.
Photo art software for mac. This list is not complete, so if you have anything to add, don’t hesitate to leave a comment to this guide.
We will start out with the DO NOT list:
- DON’T aim at the floor/legs (common mistake up until DMG).
- DON’T peek planted bomb instantly when you hear a defuse sound, wait about 3 seconds and then peek.
- DON’T hold down mouse 1 after you haven’t killed the enemy in 10 bullets, just strafe away and wait for your recoil to settle.
- DON’T hold shift when the enemy already knows you are there or there is only one entry (B on inferno for example).
- DON’T reload when your in a dangerous spot and you still have more than 5-6 bullets, get safe and then reload.
- DON’T peek when your reload isn’t finished.
- DON’T buy a helmet when you know the enemies either have AWP’s or AK’s and your money isn’t amazing.
- DON’T eco rounds when you have ~3500$ on T or ~4000$ on CT (again, don’t buy helmet) AND you know the enemies economy is weak.
- DON’T (IMPORTANT) eco after you lose the pistol on CT or T (except for when you get a plant in the pistol on the T side). Buy helmet + pistol, scout or mag-7. You will be able to buy on the 4th round no matter what you do on the second round, and winning 2nd isn’t that hard considering their economy isn’t great either.
- DON’T stand next to someone (especially AWP’ers) who are peeking on a close angle. They want to strafe back if they miss their shot and if they get blocked, this usually means instant death.
- DON’T rush in or peek with the bomb, just drop it in a safe corner where it can’t be seen by CT’s.
- DON’T peek in with your W/forward key, always peek while side strafing.
- DON’T run with a nade/smoke/flash in your hand, knife is 250 units/s nades are 245 units/s.
- DON’T flame your teammates – the game is better without, trust me.
Now for some DO’s: Camino web browser download mac.
- DO prefire common spots/corners at headshot level.
- DO fake plant to get a chance at an easy kill, just hold E till you hear the sound and then spam 1 to get your gun out.
- DO use shift walk when fake defusing (most useful in 1 vs X), tap the bomb (tapping E to make noise) and shift walk into a wider angle, so that when the T peeks the bomb you will be in a weird angle for him.
- DO use counter flashes when you are getting pushed as a CT. When you are getting rushed, a smoke will not detonate in time to stop the rush. A flash however, will buy some time and maybe even get you or your teammate a free kill.
- DO use molotovs to clear out common spots and then watch as they run for their lives while you kill them.
- DO use incendiary grenades to buy some extra time (7 sec) for your teammates to rotate.
- DO plant the bomb in the most optimal plant available. Most of you always plant in the safest way, although a better plant can give you the upper hand in a clutch situation. Learn the different plants and when to use which.
- DO flash in for your teammates. Most of those flashes are easy to throw and doesn’t need to be learned. Just tell your teammate your flashing for him and he can get a safe peek, maybe even a kill.
- DO learn the various T side smokes on the maps you are playing. YoutTube is a great source for this.
- DO accept the fact that your teammate might be better off with the AWP than you are.
- DO buy on the 3rd round if you got a plant in the 1st or 2nd round but still lost. You will have around 4500, should be enough.
- DO learn the recoil patterns of the most common weapons (AK, M4A1), again YouTube is a great source.
- DO be friendly/optimistic. Your chances for a comeback is 80% higher when you keep the spirit up! Statistically proven ;-)
